Films of 2020

Just like in reality, I envisage my selection of films of 2020 will be like no other. Mortality seems to be the predominant subject whether that’s looking at the choices we make to survive or those that we make to thrive. As is often the case, my top three are way back from the start of the year so I had forgotten how brilliant they were.

Parasite

A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood

The Personal History of David Copperfield

And the rest are all from watching from the comfort of the sofa, despite being able to watch 19 out of the 48 actually in the cinema. This compares well to last year’s 48 although there were many great ones to choose from last year when I was more choosy with which film to spend my 2 hours with.

The Life Ahead

Dick Johnson Is Dead

Bad Seeds

I’ve Lost My Body

A Secret Love

Atlantics

Dolimite Is My Name

Okja

The Two Popes

1917
