Book: The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin

As it clearly says on the cover, the story of how four kids grew up knowing exactly what date they would die. Although we start with all the Golds together, the book is in 4 parts covering each of their stories. Often, we find out more about the individuals through their siblings as this book goes into incredible detail about each of their interests and jobs.

I did find myself caring less halfway through about them all dying. However, that’s also when The Immortalists is more gripping. I love novels that span decades; we go from the 1960s to the noughties here.

My reading list tells me this was a recommendation via Stylist magazine. When I happen across the magazine, I note books that look good. Frankly most of them do so I may have read other recommendations and not noted them.

Although less likeable than all the other books I’ve read so far this year, the detail and the work that has gone into the Immortalists is probably the most in-depth. I will be looking out for other Chloe Benjamin books for sure.
