Film: The Naked Gun

I approached this film with some trepidation, as the original 80s and 90s movies had never really appealed to me; I always thought they were filled with schoolboy humour. However, I was intrigued to see Liam Neeson in a comedy, and the addition of Pamela Anderson only heightened my interest. I'm glad I decided to watch this new version.

It retains the old-school comedy style and moves at a great pace with a joke a minute. For example, “take a chair”, so they absurdly walk off with a chair. Another where the arms that get pulled off in a fight and then they get used as weapons.

The film also includes some police clichés, such as the idea of becoming an officer like one’s father and the constant presence of takeout coffee (though I did have an issue with the single-use cups—it's 2025!).

A quick word about the plot - there is one! How many films have there been this year about a tech billionaire and/or dictator out to ruin the world?

Overall, it is super entertaining, and I know it will be one of those movies I’ll watch again when I come across it on TV in a few years.

7½/10
