Film: No Other Choice

Of course, we choose a S Korean film as the first one when we return from Seoul. Unlike the country, this dark comedy has no joy and, little humour.

The story focuses on a man who is happily living in the prime of his life with his wife and two children, then loses his job in the shrinking paper industry and his life starts falling apart. When the situation becomes so dire that they have to sell the house, he hatches an evil plan to get back into employment.

The lack of enjoyment was not helped by being in a freezing cold screen in the little Odeon which was not designed for being able to read the subtitles from every seat. Thankfully, it was mostly empty so we could change our seats for those where we could actually read the subtitles and follow the story.

Interesting, but ultimately a sad and unenjoyable film.
