Movie: Transendence

Yes, I heard this was caned by the critics which is only part of the reason I decided to take a look. I realise pretty soon why but that didn’t deter me from seeing it through. The trailer, after all, looked pretty interesting. The film features several, heavily funded, world-renowned scientists. One believes working in the field of Artificial Intelligence believes that technology is the future of human revolution and will save countless lives. However, he is also making a powerful machine that is just on the wrong side of comfort for an anti-technology movement and activists shoot him with a legal dose of radioactive materials. His devoted wife decides to save his mind, therefore keeping him alive which is even creepier than it even sounds here. The mad scientist becomes even cleverer now and has the capability of taking over the world’s internet. He builds another centre in a remote part of America with millions $s accumulated from somewhere and his wife, a less mad scientist, heads it up.Around this point is best mate, a third scientists, another one of the world’s best is kidnapped and no-one notices? Not the people he works with/for? Of days, weeks and eventually I saw ‘two years later’ flash up on the screen. I couldn’t get that and few other errors out of my head but I went with it until it reaches its obvious conclusion.Phew! With a strong cast including Johnny Depp in the lead, even Morgan Freeman couldn’t save it. Just saved the world, as per usual.7/10Smile factor 9/10
