Movie – Headhunters (Hodejegerne)

So apparently this is based on a book from a known (to all but me) crime writer (Jo Nesbo). To me, it’s just a thriller when there is not much else on over a glorious long bank holiday weekend. It’s also a treat at the end of the holiday during which I’ve willingly and enthusiastically spent every minute catching up on a huge to-do list after a busy first quarter of the year. The film doesn’t have enough of the headhunting, an industry I spent a few years in so I’m loosely interested. Instead, it focuses on the head-hunter’s questionable extra curriculum art theft activities, something he does to keep his wife in the (apparent) style she is accustomed. Inevitably, things go wrong and a number of story lines emerge: double adultery, double crossing, double murder, double car chases and double humour – so not really a gripping thriller but funny. The Norwegians seem to like their nudity so there is a fair amount, not least every time the head-hunter finds himself needing to dispose of his clothes in the lake and re-invent himself whilst on the run from, seemingly everybody. Every time he had an idea, it appears they play the same music so now every time I have a writing idea, or think of a project I want to develop – that’s what I’m going to hear.Other than the humour, it is quite dull and predictable with only the twist of whether his wife is a baddie or not, keeping it interesting.6/10Smile factor 9/10 (Laughed my socks off)
