Film: The Creator

If you’re of my generation, the film you most likely think about when watching any other human vs machine film is Terminator 2.

With the Creator, we are already post-apocalyptic when a group of operatives (this is what synopsis always call elite soldiers) looking to destroy the machine believed to be threatening the very existence of humanity. So that bit rings true.

We know from the trailer there's a child central to the plot and the film will eventually explain their why. We can guess about 75% of the way through.

Heading up the mission is Joshua who agrees to go as he’s led to believe the love of his life, Maya, is still alive after a previous military attack and this is his chance to find her.

We learn of their back story and of the life they have built in what is now AI-occupied New Asia.

The plot of The Creator is fantastic, with heart-breaking twists and stunning scenery. It asks thought-provoking questions and provides answers that will make many reconsider what they thought they knew about AI.

This film is a must-watch and a strong contender for the film of the year title. And it has Allison Janney.

Just remember to bring tissues.
