Film - Everything Everywhere All at Once

Couldn't have called it anything else really.

The amazing Michelle Yeo stars as laundrette owner Evelyn Wang dealing with a tax audit, her elderly father and in particular her dysfunctional relationship with her teenage daughter on top of a distant husband.

To add to the challenge of never seemingly being able to finish her taxes, her husband from another multiverse comes to find her to help save the multiverse from an evil that is spreading throughout.

The leads are women with both mum and daughter (Stephanie Hsu) with much to do as they took on a variety of characters from different universes. Supported brilliantly by Jamie Lee Curtis playing a seen-it-all tax inspector.

So now we have a neglected husband, a troubled teen and a demanding tax inspector all shown in various multiverses.

Everything Everywhere All at Once reminds me both of Mat Haigh’s Midnight Library, a book recently gifted to me and another recent read, the wonderful Happy Families from Julie Ma.

Compelling and funny.
