Film - Dream Horse

Dream Horse is fairly predictable, however, it is based on a true story. Jan, who worked in both a bar and a supermarket (rather wonderfully depicted as a Co-op) while also caring for her elderly parents and keeping her marriage going. Despite all this in her life, she is lacking excitement.

Upon seeing a new face in the pub talking about racehorses (Damian Lewis), Jan was inspired to pull the former mining village together and invest in the breeding of a racehorse. More than the winnings, the act was about community and hope and their love and respect for the animal shone through.

I’m sure there were plenty of applicants from Welsh actors for the lead role but part of the job is being able to act with an accent and I love Toni Collette.

A reminder of what happens when we have hope.
