Book: Why Do I Say These Things by Jonathan Ross

I kept seeing this in Brewsmiths, the much missed coffee shop that sold donated books to raise money for the Big Issue Fund. Published in 2008, I finally bought it on my last visit a year ago. Frankly I was trying to get as much of Brewsmiths to hold on to it; chairs, mugs, coffee jug, water glasses and more. I still miss it. So this finally got to the top of the reading pile. I grew up with Wossy right from the early days of Chanel Four and the Last Resort on a Friday evening. It was interesting to read the stories of The Last Resort being put together on a tiny budget for a tiny audience. I thought everyone watched it. To the naked and appreciative eye, it seemed pretty professional – and hysterical. It has to be said, Mr Ross is funnier in person. I had to imagine his facial expressions to aid the humour. But with chapters entitled I kiss my dogs even though their breath smells bad, My life as a womble and other disasters and Never mind the bollocks, where’s a public toilet when you need one?, there are many out moments that triggered a giggle. In any case, it was fun to relive a little of my childhood through reading this.
