Movie – Worlds End

I try to watch British films even if the storyline is not really my thang. If you think about it, if this was American, it would be set in small town boredom and have the five comic actors that play themselves in every ‘funny’ film that I never watch. But it’s British, so here I am.And really, that’s what makes Worlds End, the British-isms.Hugely appealing to some, but not a lightweight drinker like myself, the story is of 5 lads – now grown men – who go back to their child hood home to ‘finish the job’ – go on a drinking bender that ends at, yes, the World’ End pub. It’s a bit like Mad Dogs, in that the truth comes out after they’ve had a drink and rekindle the boy romance of their teens but any male loathing/bonding is put aside while they tackle the issue of alien zombies which have infiltrated their sleepy home town. There are plenty of laughs to be had as we watch each of the unwitting four men being cajoled by Simon Pegg’s lead character although I’m guessing the younger, male will be doing more of the LOLing (is that right? I don’t use yoof abbreviations.) than myself.Entertaining.7/10Smile Factor  8/10ComedyCoffee rating: Ristretto
