Movie – Public Enemies

So it’s not called Public Enemy No. 1, the name apparently given to the main character, John Dillinger by a fledgling FBI worker. There is another French film due out soon, Mesrine: Public Enemy No. 1 about a French gangster so maybe it would have been too confusing?Public Enemies is quite good. There are a couple of twists and turns and the film moves along at a good pace but it’s based on a true story so there are not many ways to throw in anything new. They throw in a fictional telephone conversation to spice up the excellent Frost/Nixon.The soundtrack was a good back drop although I felt a little modern to truly go with the era, more something that belonged to a Guy Ritchie gangster flick. A typical gangster Dillinger wasn’t; he was a plain and simple bank robber, didn’t rob from the public directly and apparently had a string of one-liners and eye for the ladies. Actually, again just one lady so not your average power crazy law breaker.7½/10  Smile  Factor 7½/10
