Glasgow: coffee, 'tea' & Yelp

My third August bank holiday in Scotland so that makes it a bona-fide tradition now. This is my first time in Glasgow though when I haven't gone to work on my book, which is completed and sent to an agent (waiting response before sending it the next on this month). Instead this is one of those refresh & reboot breaks for the boyfriend & I, a little work, a little thinking, a little planning & a lot of rest with lashings of coffee. So to help us with finding the very best places to visit,  as with Berlin, we once again turned to Yelp

The layout for Avenue G is similar to Cup a few doors down and it seems that this is the coffee sister to their tea specialism. I'm reliably informed they are not connected and despite both floors being small, there is a place to hideaway upstairs to work. My first time in Sterling and we did go to see the castle but our favourite moment is this; looking out from a gorgeous find, Highland Hotel, built-in the former High School. We had a delightful welcome, enjoyed lovely hot chocolate and a perfect setting - the 'head's study'!My first (fleeting) visit to Glasgow's Riverside Museum and I'm very much looking forward to going back and spending several hours there. I loved the old cars but there were all sorts of vintage transport features from horse (not real) and carriage to fire engines to trains. I always love looking at retro kitchens and had to snap this old Kenwood! Talking of cake mixers, we had a celebratory afternoon tea (lots to celebrate this summer!) at the highly Yelp reviewed Tea Rooms although this wasn't a patch on the great teas I've had in Birmingham, we very much enjoyed the glass of bubbly that came with, especially on a very rainy Glasgow afternoon. Finally, we went to another Yelp recommended coffee place, this time in our own neighbourhood, Finnieston. ( Having stayed twice before I didn't realise this was a neighbourhood until @YelpGlasgow informed me!).  Piece is another delightful little coffee place but like another great coffee place, Artisan Roast, there is not enough seating so this is very much for the drink (or eat) & go type rather than the work-from-coffee. Not to be confused by its little sister, Another Piece, I did enjoy a pea and ham soup here and love this cupboard in the bathroom! I should mention the ever wonderful Sandyford Hotel who look after us in clean and friendly surroundings and a fabulous breakfast to set us up each day. The place is perfectly located next to Kelvingrove Park which not only houses the wonderful Kelvingrove museum but also takes us through to my favourite neighbourhood, West End.What's your favourite city? How often do you get there?
